History
Paxá Wines began with a shared passion between Joaquim Lopes and his son Tiago. Quinta do Outeiro is located southeast of Silves, a city with an ancient wine history dating back to the times of the Arab occupation.
Quinta do Outeiro extends over an area of 30 acres of vineyards, planted in a very special terroir, of clay-limestone soil, influenced by the proximity of the sea, the sun exposure and its microclimates.
These unique characteristics, combined with a strict control of all production stages and the diversity of grape varieties planted, allow us to create wines with great potential, for the national and international markets, proven through the awards won over the years.
Who We Are
With 40 years of professional activity as an agrarian technician, I passed on my passion for viticulture to my son Tiago. And now, together, we daily put our energy, love and knowledge at the service of the Paxá wines.
In the vineyard, in the wine cellar, or in the bottle, Paxá Wines are the expression of this place that comes to life through them. In their fullest form, wines are the reflection of our relationship with the World and Nature.
Every sip is intended to evoke what is incomparable to any other place.
Whenever this happens, it is when we keep our promise.
The name Paxá (Pasha in English) is the old name attributed to the Provincial Governors during the Ottoman Empire. In the West, this designation corresponds to the title of "Excellence".
With a meticulous care in the vineyards and using gentle winemaking techniques, we guarantee that our wines reflect the quality and richness of the terroir, so distinct and extraordinary, that they truly are the purest interpretation of the soil.
